Import files

Transcribe files from a recorder app or a video-call tool with Sogon. The result is the same kind of history item as a meeting you recorded, so minutes, verbatim documents, speakers, and exports all work.

Try it

  1. Open Settings → History.
  2. Press Import files.
    • With no meeting history, a separate Import files section is shown.
    • With meeting history, choose Meetings in the switcher at the top; the button is at the head of the list.
  3. Choose files. You can choose up to 20 at a time.
  4. A progress row appears for each file. When done, a new item appears in the meeting list with the file name shown.
  5. Expand the item and press Create minutes document or Create verbatim document.

Supported formats

mp3, wav, m4a, aac, aiff, caf, flac, mp4, mov

  • For video, only the first audio track is used.
  • Original files are only read; they are never moved or deleted.
  • If some files are unsupported or unreadable, only those are skipped and the rest are imported. Skipped files are listed.
  • Choosing 21 or more imports nothing.

Progress and canceling

  • Sogon transcribes files one at a time; the rest wait.
  • You can start dictation or a meeting recording while importing. When live work is waiting, the import pauses for a moment and then resumes.
  • Canceling a waiting file removes it right away. Canceling during transcription keeps what was transcribed so far as a history item.
  • Clear finished progress rows with Clear finished.
